Tactical Rage | Bombs
Reem Bassous' "Bomb" series, executed on watercolor paper with charcoal and acrylic, delves into a more representational exploration of the bomb as both a physical object and a symbol of destruction. Unlike the abstracted "Smoke" series, these works confront the visual reality of weaponry, depicting bombs with a starkness that underscores their destructive potential. The use of charcoal and acrylic allows for a textural richness, capturing the rough, metallic surfaces and the ominous shadows that cling to these instruments of war. By focusing on the bomb itself, Bassous forces a direct engagement with the tools of violence, prompting reflection on their devastating impact on both individual lives and the broader landscape of Lebanon. These studies become a form of bearing witness, confronting the viewer with the tangible objects that fuel conflict and perpetuate trauma.
